Fetch

7.9 Good

  • $300 deductible option

  • Dental coverage

  • Exam fees are covered

  • Pet telehealth visits

  • Elder pet coverage with no age limit

  • No waiting period for wellness plan

For over twenty years, Fetch Pet Insurance has been covering the healthcare costs for the most loved pets across the country. Its plans have evolved into a perfect blend of affordability and coverage, providing extra-special care for the oldest of pets. While Fetch covers basic care within its comprehensive policies, it also offers add-ons for additional coverage of vaccinations, wellness exams, microchipping, dental cleanings, and more.

About Fetch Pet Insurance

Fetch Pet Insurance offers reimbursement-based plans with strong coverage for accident, illness, and wellness care. Its plans include coverage for elder pets, with no age limitations to exclude your pet. If you choose to add a wellness package, you’ll enjoy coverage for often-excluded product or services, including spay/neuter, microchipping, vaccinations, and wellness exams.

Fetch Pet Insurance Features and Benefits

If you have an older pet or a pet whose breed puts them at higher risk of congenital conditions, Fetch is an excellent option. In addition to standard options such as accident and illness coverage, it includes some additional aspects that set the company apart from the rest. These include:

  • Free pet telehealth visits
  • Elder pet coverage
  • Coverage of breed-specific issues
  • Dental coverage for the entire mouth
  • Wellness plans with no waiting period

Does Fetch Pet Insurance Cover Pre-Existing Conditions?

A pre-existing condition is anything that your pet has symptoms of or is diagnosed with before your pet insurance plan’s effective date. This can include conditions that have occurred in the past, such as paw infections resulting from excessive licking. If your vet previously treated your pet for the condition and it recurs after you purchase your policy, it may be considered a pre-existing condition.

As with most pet insurance companies, Fetch does not cover pre-existing conditions. However, there are some exceptions to their rule. If your pet presents with a CURABLE pre-existing condition, Fetch may choose to cover the cost of treatment. For Fetch to consider the condition curable, your pet must be symptom-free for at least 12 months before requiring care.

When you purchase your Fetch pet insurance policy, be sure to review the policy’s terms and conditions carefully and familiarize yourself with any coverage exclusions. At times, these include additional items such as prescription food or care related to breeding.

Is Fetch Pet Insurance worth it?

Fetch pet insurance is absolutely worth its cost. With comprehensive coverage and the ability to take your pet to any licensed veterinarian that you choose, you can’t go wrong. Furthermore, if you are looking for a policy that offers discounts, Fetch has them. While the company doesn’t provide a multi-pet discount like some other companies, it does offer these options for lowering your bill:

  • AARP members can receive 10% on their pet’s health insurance policy.
  • Military members and veterans can receive 10% off their pet insurance plans.
  • Fetch works with many employers to include pet health insurance in the employee benefits package at a discount of 10%. Check with your employer to find out if they participate or to ask them to sign up.
  • BlueCross BlueShield members can receive 10% off of Fetch Pet Insurance through the Blue365 program.

Does Lemonade Pet Insurance Cover Pre-Existing Conditions?

Like most pet insurance companies, Lemonade does not cover pre-existing conditions. This includes any condition that the veterinarian diagnosed or for which the pet experienced symptoms before the policy start date (end of the waiting period). You’ll find these conditions noted in your pet’s medical records, and you’ll need to submit them before your policy’s start date. Common pre-existing conditions include:

  • Arthritis
  • Dental disease
  • Allergies
  • Addison’s disease
  • Cancer
  • Cruciate ligament illness
  • Cherry Eye
  • Diabetes
  • And more

If your pet has a pre-existing condition, your pet insurance policy will still cover other care, but it will exclude payment for any care related directly to the condition.

Is Lemonade Pet Insurance worth it?

With the cost of veterinary care often soaring into the thousands, having a policy from Lemonade offers pet parents peace of mind, knowing they won’t be saddled with high costs or have to forego necessary care due to financial constraints. Does that make the premium cost worth it? We think so! The company rates well in our overview of the best pet insurance providers of the year.
