Keeps Reviews: Hair Loss & Hair Regrowth Treatments

Do Keeps hair loss and hair regrowth products work?  From Google to Reddit, Keeps customer reviews are excellent and it’s clear that their products work for both hair loss and regrowth treatments. However, like all good things, there are pros and cons to consider. For example, on Reddit, some Keeps customer reviews talked about how their hair grew back fast, but some men experienced sexual side effects. The good news is that not all Keeps hair loss treatments have sexual side effects.

However, men should be aware of the ingredients in hair loss treatments that can cause sexual side effects, such as finasteride (Propecia), and carefully weigh a treatment’s pros and cons before deciding whether or not to use it. What’s great about Keeps is that you can speak to a real doctor and get full disclosure on your treatment options, so you can make an informed choice about the best hair loss treatment for you.

Keeps is the #1 rated hair loss treatment for 2023 due to its variety of effective options that range from hair regrowth products to transplantation services. Unlike other hair loss treatment companies, like Musely, with poor customer service reviews, Keeps has excellent customer service ratings. Keeps customer service department is open to assist clients seven days a week.

What is Keeps? Keeps is an online, subscription-based company where men can be medically evaluated and treated for hair loss without having to leave home. Their selection includes several formulations of finasteride and minoxidil, as well as a prescription shampoo for dandruff and their own brand of hair-thickening shampoo, conditioner, and styling pomade. As a telehealth service, Keeps offers free online consultations with licensed medical providers with your initial order and for the entire year after. Keeps stands apart from its competition because it also offers its own hair transplantation service.

Pros

  • Keeps hair loss treatments are clinically proven and FDA-approved. Get 35% Off Your First Order Of Topical Finasteride and Minoxidil Gel

  • Substantial savings over brand-name products like Rogaine

  • Great customer service, easy-to-use website

  • Automatic shipping available to all 50 states and Puerto Rico

  • Free initial consultation with a licensed medical provider

  • Prescription and follow-up messaging with doctor included

  • Progress tracking tools available from your account

  • Hair loss restoration surgery available in New York City with plans to expand

Cons

  • Additional medical consultations cost $5

  • Shipping costs $5

  • No options for women or people with other types of hair loss

  • Doesn’t offer telehealth services in 4 states, Washington, DC, or Puerto Rico

  • Doesn’t accept insurance or HSA/FSA

Keeps Hair Products Review

Product Selection:
Keeps has a somewhat limited selection compared to their competitors, but we don’t necessarily view that as a negative.

Hair loss is a stressful, confusing issue to navigate, and the amount of choices available on some other sites can be overwhelming.

Is Keeps FDA approved?

Keeps…well, keeps it simple, with FDA-approved ingredients in fixed formulas and no fancy extras. That probably also helps them maintain such competitive pricing.

Is Keeps Finasteride?

reviews keeps finasteride

Keeps offers a 1 mg oral tablet form of finasteride, a drug that stops new hair loss by lowering levels of dihydrotestosterone, or DHT. Since finasteride is only available by prescription, Keeps provides a free one-on-one consultation with a licensed doctor who will write one if clinically appropriate.

Keeps Minoxidil Review

Topical minoxidil 5% is a medication that fights hair loss and helps hair grow back by increasing blood flow to the hair follicles. It’s available from Keeps in solution and foam formulations that work on both the crown and hairline.

Either product is meant to be massaged into the scalp twice a day and left in. With consistent use, you should see results within 4-6 months. Results are not permanent and only last if you continue to use the product.

Finasteride + Minoxidil (topical) Solution Review

A combination of finasteride 0.25% and minoxidil 5% in a topical gel formulation. The two medications work together to stop hair loss and encourage growth of new hair better than either alone.

Topically-applied finasteride also avoids the potential sexual side effects that can occur when taking this medication by mouth. Keeps recommends this combo as their most powerful and effective product.

Ketoconazole 2% Shampoo Review

A shampoo formulation of ketoconazole 2% that treats dandruff, itchiness, and flaking. Does not affect hair loss or growth. Results can be expected in 2-3 weeks.

Reviews on Keeps.com Hair Loss Treatment Services

As a service, Keeps is clearly built around taking the hassle out of hair loss treatment.

  • Their website, Keeps.com, is not only attractive but also streamlined and highly useful.
  • How to get a prescription at Keeps: The company provides the convenience of live online consultations with medical providers who can prescribe medication when deemed appropriate.
  • Doctor consultations: Contacting your doctor is effortless, whether it’s through their user-friendly web portal or by scheduling a follow-up.
  • Convenient refills: Moreover, when it’s time for a refill, Keeps takes care of it by automatically shipping your next order, ensuring you never run out of your required medication.

In which states is Keeps Hair Loss Treatment available?

Presently, Keeps offers its services to all 50 states as well as Puerto Rico. Nevertheless, they are unable to extend telehealth services (including consultations and prescriptions) to residents of Delaware, Kansas, New Mexico, West Virginia, Washington, DC, or Puerto Rico.

If you reside in any of these areas, you can still make purchases from Keeps, but you will need to arrange for a doctor from your state to send them a prescription beforehand.

Where can I buy Keeps hair treatment?

The best place to buy Keeps hair loss treatment products is right on their website, at Keeps.com.

How Do I Order?

Signing up for Keeps is easy as it gets. You provide your name, email, and some personal details, then select the products you want to order or complete a quick questionnaire that’ll recommend a treatment regimen that’s best for you.

After checking out, you’ll have the opportunity for a one-on-one online consultation with a licensed doctor to review your treatment plan and write a prescription if you need one. If you live in one of the locations where Keeps doesn’t offer telehealth services, you’ll need to talk to a doctor in your state to get a prescription for products that contain finasteride or ketoconazole.

How to Choose the Best Keeps Hair Loss Treatment Product:

Picking the right Keeps hair loss treatment is easier with their helpful quiz, even though it takes about 5 minutes – more than the 1 minute they say. They ask when you first noticed hair loss, how it’s happening (like if you see hair on your pillow or brush), and if your scalp feels itchy, has dandruff, or any bumps.

reviews keeps hair loss

Before they recommend a hair loss treatment, Keeps reviews your lifestyle habits and daily routine.

They’re also curious about treatments you’ve tried before and stuff in your life like smoking, stress, and how much sun you get. They even want to know about your family’s hair history and your health conditions.

keeps lifestyle questions reviews

Oh, and they ask for pictures of your hair and scalp too.

When you’re done with the quiz, you’ll have a Keeps account. But for a specific recommendation on the best Keeps hair loss treatment for your situation, you need to upload photos of your problem area. This helps them examine and give you a personalized treatment option that suits your needs. The quiz might take a bit longer, but it helps you find the best hair loss options just for you.

Ease-of-Use

Keeps products are designed to be easy-to-use. Products available in gel and foam formulations can be easier to apply and keep in place, but topical solutions are available for minoxidil products for guys who prefer this method of application.

Customer Reviews on Keeps Hair Loss Prices:

Pricing with Keeps was a little confusing at first, but after clarifying with customer service, we found that Keeps actually has pretty competitive pricing and some great discounts when you buy in bulk.

If you’re looking to get a discount and save money over the longterm on your hair loss treatments, Keeps can offer you just that! Since you’ll need to use these hair loss products consistently to get and maintain results, investing in a 6 or 12 month supply upfront can save you a bundle.

First, it’s important to note that all prices quoted on Keeps.com are per month, which will be multiplied by however many months supply you order. Their minimum order quantity is three months.

Shipping is $5 for all orders, and works like this:

  • Three month supplies ship four times a year
  • Six month supplies ship twice a year
  • Twelve month supplies ship in one order for the year.

Review Keeps Discounts and Pricing

When you buy a three month supply, you’ll get a 50% discount on your first order, which is the price you’ll see on the product pages. But be aware that this discount is only for the first order, and the price will double for future orders.

For example, a three month supply of finasteride 1 mg tablets costs $40 for the first order, but $80 for subsequent orders.

Six and twelve month supplies are also available for some products. Since these are already discounted, you won’t get the 50% off your first order, but you will save some money on both the product and shipping.

Telehealth Costs

Your initial consultation with a doctor is free with your subscription purchase, as is a prescription if you need one. They’ll contact you again a few weeks after you start to follow up at no charge, and you get unlimited messaging with your doctor for the first year of your subscription. You can also request an additional consultation at any time for $5.

Insurance and Payment

You’ll be automatically billed before your next order is shipped. Since hair loss treatment is considered cosmetic, Keeps doesn’t accept insurance or health savings accounts (HSA/FSA).

Hair Restoration Surgery Costs

Like any other complex medical procedure, hair transplants aren’t cheap. The follicular unit extraction procedure offered by Keeps is more advanced, but also more expensive. While your actual cost depends on the amount of area you need treated, most patients can expect to pay $7000-$10,000 for the procedure.

Insurance does not generally cover hair transplantation because it’s considered cosmetic surgery, but introductory offers and financing are available. Their website has an easy-to-use tool that allows you to upload photos of your hair and receive a personalized estimate.

Service Quality

Since we had some pricing questions while writing the last section, we used that as an opportunity to press their customer service team a bit using the live chat support feature on the Keeps.com website. We ended up having a great experience! Not only did we receive an immediate response, but they were also unfailingly patient and friendly in the face of our nit-picky questions.

The chat client has some helpful features you wouldn’t think of until you need them, like the ability to attach files and export the chat to your email (be sure to do this if you need a record, because the chat window clears when you close it). We attached a couple screenshots to help the rep look into an issue with no trouble.

Keeps does have some negative customer reviews on the Better Business Bureau website related to issues with delivery and charges, but they respond to all of them and make a genuine effort to correct the problem.

Refunds, Replacements, & Guarantees

Because the products Keeps sells are considered medications, they don’t offer refunds or returns on products that have already shipped, even if unused. They will, however, replace damaged or defective products. Canceling a subscription can be done by phone, text, or through the customer service chat on their website.

Who Is Keeps For?

Keeps is intended for men with male pattern hair loss. Their topical products are meant to be applied to the scalp only, and Keeps advises against using them on other areas of the body, including the face.

Can I use Keeps for other kinds of hair loss, like from chemotherapy?

No, Keeps is only for male pattern hair loss. The medications they carry won’t work for hair loss due to other causes.

Can Women Use Keeps?

Although minoxidil can be used safely by women, Keeps says that the 5% concentration in their products is a much higher strength intended only for men, and it shouldn’t be used by women with hair loss (there are other lower-strength products available elsewhere). Other companies, including Hers and Rogaine, make hair loss products designed specifically for women.

Women should not use or handle any product containing finasteride, including topicals and tablets, due to the risk of birth defects and fertility issues related to how this drug works.

Does Keeps Work?

Since Keeps only offers treatments that are FDA-approved for hair loss, you can expect to see results on par with those seen in clinical trials of these medications.
Keeps reports that in men using their finasteride and minoxidil combination treatment for at least four months, over 90% will see their hair loss slow or stop completely, while 66% will experience some degree of hair regrowth. They estimate that in the best cases, some men can get back up to 20% of their lost hair.

When taking finasteride 1 mg daily, one study found that 85-91% of men saw their hair loss slow considerably, stop, or even reverse in some cases after one year of treatment. Increases in hair density were also reported for about 75% of men. Results usually continue to improve in the first two years, and although they level off after that, they’ve been shown to last at least five years with continued treatment.

Treatment with minoxidil 5% has also been shown to lead to positive results, with 67% of men in one study experiencing shrinking of their hair loss area, and over 90% experiencing some degree of hair regrowth (62% had significant hair regrowth) after four months of treatment. Around 14% reported results within the first month, 52% in month two, and 34% in month three. Side effects were seen in 1.7% of study participants.

Is Keeps Safe To Use?

Based on customer reviews, side effects of Keeps products are limited to occasional burning, itching, and tingling of the scalp from products containing minoxidil. The foam minoxidil may cause less irritation than the solution, possibly because the solution isn’t as easy to apply evenly. While the foam makes this easier, it also leaves more of the product on the hair itself, which can interfere with styling your hair.

We didn’t find any reviews specifically mentioning side effects from finasteride, but in general, taking finasteride by mouth may lead to issues with erectile dysfunction and loss of libido in a small percentage of men (2-4%). If these side effects occur, they almost always resolve on discontinuation of the drug. Topical finasteride is thought to have much lower risk of these side effects.
